IBM Corp. says it has developed a greener method for recycling precious silicon that is wasted during computer chip manufacturing.Another ‘green’ play by a large corporation to show how socially conscious they are… While the idea behind recycling flawed chips seems logical, the savings are very small ($1.5 million per year). However, Richard Doherty of the Envisioneering Group made the point that margins are so small in the semiconductor industry, “a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 percent improvement is a real breakthrough.”
