‘Warm wind’ hits Arctic climate

Summary: The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has reported a new wind circulation pattern is blowing more warm air towards the North Pole, melting ice and killing wildlife. The NOAA found winter and spring temperatures in the Arctic during 2007 were “all above average”. James Overland of the NOAA went on to say, “This is an unusual feature and it looks like the beginning of a signal from global warming.” This was the first update on the 2006 U.S. State of the Arctic report, established to provide benchmarks for tracking changes in the future.

My Take: Really? You don’t say! This is news to me!! Okay, that is a bit sarcastic but I really think I am going to stop covering these articles on this blog. One, they come out everyday. Two, this is not new news. I’d prefer to cover articles on what we can do about these unfortunate circumstances and how we can think outside the box. Regardless though, these reports do serve a good purpose and are necessary to monitor the effects of global warming. I just get a bit irritated how when each new report on global warming is release, it is spun as some new, insightful revelation. We have a problem with global warming and anyone that still thinks we don’t have a problem should just read the news everyday – the evidence is insurmountable.
