Summary: Obama proposed an energy policy that calls for reduced emissions and forcing companies to pay for all their pollution. Citing past failures by former Presidents and current candidates, Obama promised an 80% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. He also proposed a “cap and trade” approach to spur “climate-friendly energy and economic development”.
My Take: I like Obama’s talk about avoiding “the same Washington politics”. And you can’t argue against the facts he pulled out – our nation has become increasingly dependent on foreign oil under each President since Gerald Ford. Though, I think the jury is still out on if the “cap and trade” approach is the best.
