Summary: According to the European Environmental Agency, Europeans’ life expectancy has been reduced by almost a year and they can put some of the blame on global warming. Claiming hundreds of thousands of people across Europe are dying prematurely because of air pollution, the Agency’s 400-page report calls for quickly reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving air and water quality. It also brought attention to risk associated with the development of children. The Agency’s director, Jacqueline McGlade stated, “We need to further strengthen the will to act on environmental issues across the pan-European region.”
My Take: There is so much news on global warming everyday and reports like these just make you wish it was not all true or as bad as they are predicting. I have never heard of life expectancy declining in my lifetime and this is just shocking.
